Employment Opportunites at Northern Lights

The Northern Lights School was founded in 1996 and currently has 39 children enrolled in Pre-School, Kindergarten through Grade 5.  For the grades we offer specialty classes in Physical Education, Spanish, French and Handwork. Music and recorder are discovered in the context of the classroom. We strive to bring the living principles of Waldorf education to our school.  We also offer an after-school care program.

Located in the beautiful, six-million-acre Adirondack Park, Saranac Lake is a wonderful, community–minded village with access unparalleled in the Northeast to wilderness hiking, camping, canoeing and skiing opportunities. Our area boasts the most diversified economy in the Park including government offices, research institutions, a hospital and two small colleges. In addition to our amazing outdoor opportunities, we enjoy centers of visual and performing arts, nearby organic agriculture, farmers’ markets, and plentiful community activities. Saranac Lake has been named an “All America City” because of its commitment to community projects.

Northern Lights School is a small alternative school that bases its philosophy and curriculum on the Waldorf educational model. We serve children and their families from birth through grade five.
